Our work "Tutorial: projector approach to master equations for open quantum systems" has been published in Quantum!
In this tutorial we review the formulation of Open Quantum systems in terms of projectors in density matrix space. We introduce a general and exact equation for an open system (the Nakajima Zwanzig equation) and discuss how to derive from it, by different perturbative expansions, various famous master equations in quantum science, namely the Brownian master equation, the Born-Markov master equation, and the effective dynamics of a Lambda system under detuned drive (usually called adiabatic elimination in AMO). We hope this will provide a practical toolbox for young quantum scientists on how to derive effective quantum dynamics
